NYFC Statement on the Derek Chauvin Verdict

Today is a monumental day. Derek Chauvin, the police officer responsible for killing George Floyd nearly one year ago, was found guilty on all counts. This is a small victory within the context of the long history of racial injustices in this country, but a victory nonetheless. This verdict does not bring back the full and beautiful life of George Floyd, or the countless other people of color who have been killed by police, but it is a glimmer of hope for the communities harmed by the trauma of police killings and for all of America.  George Floyd will never be forgotten. May he rest in peace.
